My family has been bringing their cars here for over 20 years. Jon and his team always give friendly and honest service. The only mechanic I'd ever go to. I can't recommend them enough!

You know that feeling when you know there's something wrong with your car, and you just let it go for whatever reason (money, time, laziness). But every time you get in your car you always remember you have that problem and it always bothers you. And then you finally get that problem fixed and all that stress is gone and you feel like the world is right again. Every time I leave Shige's and John has worked on my car, that free feeling from the stress is ALWAYS how I feel. I always know he fixes my car and does whatever it takes to keep it running well. I'm not even going to get into pricing, because quite honestly I don't care what he charges me, because I always know my car will be fixed. (But for those that need to know anyway. He's way cheaper than those crooked dealers, and he never tries to rip you off. If it costs a lot, he'll do his best to help you out, but he'll never add charges or work that you don't need)That's part of the secure feeling you get from him. You won't get ripped off, and you know he'll fix your car. If somehow there is a problem. He won't waffle and he'll take responsibility and fix the problem. What else can you ask for?

I have been bringing my Land Cruiser to John for over 15 years, and my husband brought his old Toyota mini-van to Shige for at least ten years before I came along! John and his crew have kept my Cruiser in great condition for over 150K miles, never ever taking advantage of me like the dealers tend to do. I appreciate his expertise, attention to details, honesty, and good humor, and fair pricing. I recommend Shige's to everyone I know who needs a reliable and trustworthy auto shop for their Japanese car.

My friends have used Shige's and told me we could trust them. I took my car in and John told me he had a like-new used part that he could use if I didn't mind it being used. He didn't charge me for the part, only the labor. Who does that?! We bought a Honda and was taking it to the dealer because it was under warranty but every time we took it in without fail they would call us saying we needed 2 or 3 more major things fixed. I convinced my husband to take the printout of what we "needed done" from Honda to Shige's and John told us that 2 of the things they said we needed really didn't need to be done yet. Our $900 estimate came down to $330. We are very happy we found them. So long, Honda dealership!

Shige's is a world-class mechanic shop. I've been a customer for over 15 years. This shop has a great reputation and has never charged me for anything I didn't need. I came here today based on a recommendation from a friend. I have been going to the dealership for 7 years now under the assumption that they knew what they were doing. Well after getting priced gouged for the umpteenth time, I decided I've had enough. I booked online for a consultation at Shige's and it was the most in-depth and comprehensive consult I have ever had...even more detailed than going to the doctor! John was lovely and went through everything step by step with me and included pictures highlighting every possible point of the inspection. Needless to say, I'm incredibly impressed. He even gave me a reasonable price quote for minor things I needed in the future with no pressure to rebook. I think I've just found my new go-to spot!

John took the time to dumb down the explination and showed me exactly what is needed to repair my car. I left feeling comfortable with my decision to leave my vehicle in his hands. Ill update this upon getting my car back but so far so good.

Great service. Knowledgeable staff who are very helpful. Took the time to explain the work they plan to do. Once completed, they provided the detail of the work and reasons for the repairs. Normally since we lived in Downtown Chicago, we were at the mercy of the dealer and the standard work they do based on the Service codes that shows up on the dashboard. I always thought these codes were BS and just a method for the dealerships to make money by providing unnecessary cookie cutter services. Thanks John Kadowaki for the great service!
